System Requirements

Operating System

  • Windows 10 (64 bit) is required for the interactive application.

  • Linux is optionally supported for server, worker, and file storage. (Debian, Ubuntu, CentOS, …)

System Memory / RAM

  • Minimum: 4 GB

  • Recommended: 32 GB to 256 GB depending on data size.

  • Usually as a rough guideline we suggest at least twice as much RAM as the size of the typical largest image size. So if the image files are 16 GB, 32 GB RAM is recommended.

  • More RAM is always useful to process multiple images at once, or can be required for certain image processing steps or external tools.

Data Storage / Disk Space

  • Minimum: The software itself requires only 1 GB free disk space.

  • Recommended: 2 TB to 6 TB depending on data size. Fast local Solid State Drive (SSD) for performant data access.

  • Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices can optionally be used for shared data access.

  • For example a larger studies of 100 images of 10 GB each could use 1 TB just for the raw data.

  • Additional intermediate and final result files can require a multiple of that.

  • Total data usage can be in the range of 100 TB per year for multiple users and projects.

Processor / CPU

  • Minimum: Any typical workstation CPU can be used to run the software itself.

  • Recommended: Fast multi-core CPU with 16 cores or more, depending on the workflows and tasks, for faster processing of more data at once.

Graphics Card / GPU

  • Minimum: Any typical graphics card can be used to run the software itself.

  • Recommended: 4 GB of dedicated video memory is recommended.

  • Special workflows and tasks like machine learning can require special high end graphics card with more video memory and vendor specific API support like NVIDIA CUDA.

Example Workstations

  • Suitable workstations can be custom assembled or pre-built from vendors like a HP Z4 workstation or comparable models.
